After living my entire life in Mexico, three years ago I came to live in Minnesota with my brother. Even though this move was necessary for me, this was a huge change for me, and it definitely took a lot of courage, commitment, and discipline to make it work. That's where my dear friend, Michelle, came along as an oasis in the desert. She made that huge step a lot easier and more doable. One day my brother gave me the best gift I can think of: He gave me Michelle's phone number and we instantly connected in the most incredible way. Since that moment, Michelle has been a person in which I can trust with everything. She will listen and understand almost as if she could read my mind! Every time I talked to her, I felt a big relief, because she takes you step-by-step to make sure the path you're taking is not only the correct one, but more importantly, the one you really want. She shows you how things are not as

difficult as you may think, and that you can create your own beautiful world by doing the things you really enjoy and like to do. Michelle inspires you to take care of yourself, believe in yourself, and always stay positive.

I know that I still have a long way to go. I keep working every day acknowledging exactly what I am doing in order to get where I want to go. Right now I feel comfortable and confident that I have accomplished a lot since I have moved here. I feel proud and happy to say that I have a job that I like and enjoy doing for many reasons but mostly because I feel that they trust me and they believed in me since the beginning. That's something I really value and also I like thinking that I not only work with co-workers but with friends.

The other day I was reading an article in a magazine that reminded me how it is important to ask for help sometimes in order to fulfill a goal or make a dream come true.

For me, coming to Minnesota was finding my place: the place where I belong, where I found a job that I like, and made friends that I trust and count on (which is something that makes me happy). That is my goal in life, so I was lucky to meet Michelle who was and is always with me, sharing her knowledge and sensitive and thoughtful words that always come at just the right moment.

I work for a mortgage company where we help people with the process of buying, selling, and refinancing their homes…which somehow is a way of making one of their dreams come true, especially when they are buying a house for the first time. For me, it is a comforting feeling and a great satisfaction to be part of that process.

Finally I would like to share a phrase that I read on my brother's American citizenship ceremony which I really liked: "Opportunities are just limited by your determination and faith."
